Mull Magic

What a lovely week end I had on Mull with a couple from Russia.

A smooth crossing from Oban to Craignure and then a leisurely trip to Devaig to our quaint Bed and Breakfast.Passing places are the thing on Mull and you soon get back into to the rythm after  a few stops and cheery thank you's along the way.

The weather was changeable and from showers to glorious sunshine and rainbows all in the space of 10 minutes. The landscape changes too from coastal cliffs and beaches to upland mountain and moor. A delight for my photographer friend.

A trip to Iona is always a delight and to visit the Abbey and the graveyard of the ancient Kings of Scotland. The hearty bowl of soup in the Martyrs Bay Restaurant never goes amiss and then back across Mull  to meet Sir Lachlan McLean at Duart. What a hospitable host full of tales of the family the castle and battles faught long ago.

After a short hop back to Tobermory we took a trip with James and his Sea Life Surveys cruise. Spotted porpoises, seals,a sea eagle as well as an ocean going Buzzard.

After a quick warming dram at the Mishinish we had a great dinner in the McDonald Hotel. Good simple food with excellent service.

Back to Dervaig for the sunset over the bay.
